I've Been Loving.

Continuing my love of shopping I've had a few new purchases lately I thought I would share with you.

So following on from my last post about my wish list and everything festive I decided to pick up these socks from Topshop. They are just so sparkly and Christmassy I couldn't resist. I picked up the grey ones, but they come in all different colours.

Next I needed to get a new outfit for a Christmas night out, but wasn't too fussed out getting anything too over the top for the night. I found this playsuit in Warehouse, its casual yet dressy at the same time and so comfy to wear.

And what is an outfit without a bag to complete the look? This one was also from Warehouse, perfect to hold all my essentials in and a pair of comfy shoes for the end of the night.

My last purchase for today's blog was Maybelline nail varnish, which coincidentally matches the colour of the clutch bag and the playsuit. I love the fact that it is quite different from the usual colours and doesn't chip easily either.

What have you been buying lately?

Dear Santa.

Its fast approaching...yes Christmas is just round the corner now! And i'm proud to say I have finished all my shopping (almost!)

I am also guessing you have all written your letters to Santa by now... So here is a sneak peek at what I'm hoping to get this Christmas, with a few hints dropped to my parents and boyfriend, so fingers crossed!

Now I'm all for the laid back casual look, especially for early mornings at uni when I don't really have the energy to make much of an effort. So comfy footwear is a must! And these Vans are perfect. I have a few pairs already, they go with so many outfits and are just so comfy.

Next on my wish list is MAC makeup. Just anything from the store would be fab really, but I've got my eye on some of the pressed pigments in particular. Though I wouldn't mind a lipstick or two from there either.

Last on my Santa list today (I have to wrap it up soon otherwise we could be here for ages!) is this coat from River Island. I fell a little bit in love with it as soon as I saw it.

I hope you all get whatever is on your wish list this year!

Inspire Me.

As I'm sure everyone who knows me will know by now that I love shopping. But before I go shopping I always like to see what trends are popular at that time, what my friends recommend and what everyone else is wearing at that moment. It sounds a bit creepy, but I love looking at what everyone else is wearing as I sit on the bus on my way to uni.

Britain is well known for its unique fashion sense and it is no different here in Aberdeen. As always there are usually a good few questionable outfits, but for the most part Aberdeen is rather creative when it comes to putting an outfit together.

So as well as getting inspiration from what everyone here in Aberdeen is wearing, there's nothing I love more than flicking through a magazine. Much like my Granny, I could buy numerous magazines every week to look through (she loves a good issue of Hello to catch up on all the gossip!) seeing what is new in stores or what this celeb wore on that red carpet.

Being totally clueless as to how to use it, I also love Pinterest. Its great to look through just for different ideas or how to put an outfit together a bit differently. Which is also perfect if you don't have any money to buy anything new, just wear the clothes you have, but in a different way, and there you have it... a new outfit!

And of course another inspiration of mine is the one and only Beyonce... I love her! Yes i'm a bit of a fan girl, but who cares? She is fab!

I'd love to know what inspires you!

A Good Strong Brow.

Eyebrows. I'm obsessed with them! There's nothing I love more than a good strong eyebrow to finish off a look. They've made a come back and they are bigger and better than ever. So I thought I would do some research and see what products there are on the market to help achieve this look.
Benefit Brow Zings £23.50
Barry M Brow Pen Dark Brown £4.99
Gosh Eye Brow Pencil Soft Black £5.49

These are just a few of the products out there just now, I'd love to know what products you are all using.
So just to wrap up this rather short blog I'd like to share my eyebrow icon with you all... Cara Delevingne. If only I could have brows like her and be able to look good in them!

Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.

The season is upon us! And don't we know. Christmas music, Christmas adverts, Christmas jumpers... and its only the middle of November. So to start off this rather Christmassy blog I've decided my favourite advert is the Sainsbury's one...

And I am definitely the kid at 1.32

Anyway, moving on....
I love a bit of glitter, so you can imagine I'm in my element at Christmas... everything is covered in it!
Going back to my trusty favourites Topshop. I couldn't decide if I liked these or not... I mean it is an awful lot of glitter, but in the end I decided I did really like them!

They would look fab with a pair of black heels and a plain black top... very glamorous for a night out.
Now on a not so glamorous note, but oh so comfy and festive... Christmas Jumpers!
Staying on Topshop... I am ever so slightly in love with this jumper. Which was also featured in my fellow bloggers latest blog... check out what Katie has to say here.

Its just so soft! And who doesn't love a jumper with gingerbread men on it? Next is some festive looking cosmetics.... I came across this eye-shadow the other day and just thought it looked fab for an everyday look, but would also work great for a night out.

Lovely and shimmery for the  festive season! The perfect way to finish off any look and especially at Christmas, is with some sparkly nail polish. This one is perfect to match any outfit...

So basically anything with a Christmassy picture or some glitter on it and your good to go!

The Futures Bright... Orange.

Its definitely the new black and hot off the catwalk, orange is the hottest new colour in town.
New York Fashion Week saw DKNY send orange lips down the runaway. Not only are all the high end designers loving orange, high street stores have been jumping on the bandwagon too.
I'm proud to say I've been supporting the orange trend for a good few months now... so here's a sneak peak at my collection so far.
One day I was strolling through River Island as you do, when this bag caught my eye. It was all I could think about for days... so with my birthday money, I made it mine!

Unfortunately its out of stock now, but there are plenty more orange bags in the store to choose from.

Anyone who knows me will know I love some bright lipstick, so I was very excited when I found this in Superdrug.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick Coral in Gold 210

Last on my list for today is this nail varnish. This is fab to add a splash of colour to any outfit.

Rimmel London  Lasting Finish 200 Orange Your Life

So that's my orange collection so far, which I'm sure will grow in size. I'd love to see what colours you guys are loving.

Shoes Glorious Shoes.

My shoes are my pride and joy! I love them... and its fair to say I have quite a collection (which is ever growing might I add). Any time we have friends round to the flat the boys are always amazed by how much shoes I have, but in a girls eyes... its still not enough! I always say you can never have enough shoes...or bags...or jackets... you see where I am going with this?

In my opinion, one of the comfiest pairs of shoes to own are Toms. At the moment I have four pairs... though I always have my eye on another colour I could add to my selection. The classic style comes in all different colours and patterns to choose from. Not only do Toms make really comfy shoes to wear, its all for a good cause too. A guy named Blake Mycoskie had been travelling in Argentina and found that the children there didn't have any shoes. After seeing this he decided to help them by building a company. Toms.
Each time a customer buys a pair of the shoes, another pair is then donated to the children. This is where the company's slogan comes from, 'One for One'. Simple yet effective. Since launching the company, Toms have helped so many people and achieved so much... and long may it continue!
Here are a couple of pairs I've got my eye on...

Moving on to a much different style of shoe....

If there's one thing you can't go wrong with on a night out, its a pair of killer heels! Granted your feet may hurt a little after you've been up on the dance floor busting your moves all night. (did I really just say that?) However perseverance is the key! Your feet do get used to them, it just takes time... and a lot of plasters! With Christmas just round the corner, many a night out will you need a new pair of heels to finish off your look. So here are just a few I know will look fab with that dress you've got your eye on!

Hey Chunky Monkey.

Autumn and chunky knits...they go together like fish and chips, Easter and chocolate,Christmas and turkey. I love this time of year when its starting to get colder, but its not too cold either. Its just right for getting your jumpers and scarves out of the back of your wardrobe. Or checking out what new colours and styles are popular this year on the high street.

I'm proud to say I have only made two purchases to add to my chunky knit collection this year. (So far)
First off is this snood from Topshop. I was instantly drawn to the colour of this.... i'm quite a fan of anything khaki or olive, so this was right up my street. Very grunge.  I like to think I can pull off the grunge look, even though secretly I know deep down that I can't... but shall continue to try anyway! Plus it looks great with a biker jacket.
My next purchase was a jumper from Primark. I first saw it when Zoella wore it in one of her videos (p.s. if you haven't already, check them out... they are fab). So not knowing where it was from I thought I was just going to have to admire it from afar...until I went into Primark. There it was just hanging on the wall, calling my name. It was fate, it had to be.... I couldn't just stumble upon the jumper and then not do anything about it. So it did what I have to do and bought it. It is now living very happily in my wardrobe.
This jumper is perfect for layering up, its not too thick so is still comfy to wear under a big coat. The black and white means it can be worn with any other colours. Perfect to mix and match with other chunky knits.

My Saving Grace.

If there's one thing that is guaranteed to wake me up in the morning and make me look slightly more alive for those nine o'clock lectures, its my make-up. Its a miracle worker.
No matter how much coffee I drink, it never hides those bags under my eyes like my make-up does. There are some items that I couldn't live without, I swear by them. So here they are...

First on my list is the L'OrĂ©al Super Liner Perfect Slim. I thought I would start with my favourite item and this has got to be the most used product in my bag too. Its definitely my saving grace. My flicks are what makes me... well me! And so every morning without fail this is what I reach for. Cat eye flicks are one of the hardest and most time consuming things to do when your putting on your make-up, but this eye-liner makes it a whole lot easier... Hallelujah! The thin tip of the pen means its much easier to get a thin line than a lot of other eye-liners out there. Though still allows you to have thicker flicks if you want as using this pen gives you the control to do that. I would definitely recommend this to everyone, you can experiment with so many different looks... well worth the money!

Next on my list is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder. Again this is perfect to have in your bag if your on the go all the time. Though to be honest you never have to reapply it much throughout the day. According to the compact it lasts up to 5 hours, and its not lying! I can put this on once I've done my make-up in the morning and know I don't have to worry about my face looking all shiny and oily when I'm at uni or work.

Finally my last saving grace for this blog is Rimmel London again, this time its the Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in shade 107. This lipstick is by far my favourite out of my ever growing collection. When I first bought this I was a little scared to wear it as I never usually go for anything this dark or bold, but I'm so glad I did. So many times this lipstick has been the finishing touch to an outfit. Plus if your running late in the morning and don't have time to do your hair, put some bright lipstick on and no-one will notice. Bold lips are a key staple right now!

Its a bit chilly.

So its clear that winter is fast approaching, especially here in Aberdeen... its freezing! Gone are the days of walking to work in short sleeves and flip flops for another year. We're back to layering up again, which i'm not going to lie, i'm a little bit excited about. I mean who doesn't love a chunky knit?

With the cold weather hitting us and me being a fashion student and all, this got me thinking I should probably invest in a winter coat. (I know my mum will probably be reading this rolling her eyes saying 'not another jacket'.) The way I see it, shopping is like doing research. Since its fashion i'm studying its compulsory to shop on a regular basis to keep up to date with the latest trends. This is my theory anyway.

Back to the topic in hand... investing in a winter coat. I like many others, am a great fan of topshop, so of course they were the first place I headed for. Going in with an open mind I had no idea what kind of style I was looking for, so when I saw this one on the mannequin I had to try it on.

I'll admit, its not something I would normally go for... but after trying it on in the store I didn't want to part with it. This may be the warmest, softest coat I have ever put on... its just so comfy.
As the style is quite a baggy fit, it means I can layer up for the really cold days but can still get away with wearing just a t-shirt under it if I wanted. The coat is also perfect for a night out as a cover up, ready for all Christmas parties to come. Plus you can never go wrong with black!

Hello.

Welcome to my first ever blog post... how exciting! Though truth be told I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. So bare with me if this is pretty shocking, future posts will be improved... I promise.

So enough about me not knowing what I'm doing on how to write this blog and a little bit about why I'm writing it...
I love fashion. I've loved fashion for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are trying on my mum and granny's high heels and wobbling around in them, so it only made sense that I go and study fashion before going out into the big bad world of work.
I'm a fashion management student studying at Robert Gordon University. As part of our coursework we had to start a blog... and I'm glad because I've always wanted to start one, though was too lazy to get round to it, but there's no getting out of it now. In an attempt to become a better blogger than I am right now, each week I'll write about what I've been wearing, what I wish I was wearing, beauty products and life in general...

Anyway, until next time...
